RS232 adapter is used with evaluation boards for debugging the application specific boot code as well as downloading it into the boot EEPROM.

It works with Simple DSP Boards, Prototyping Boards, VS1053 USB Hi-Fi Player Board, VS1003 SD Card mini player, VS1000D Button-Cell Player, VS1000C Audio Module, and other boards with only logic-level RX / TX signals.

It is not needed for VS1000 Developer Board and VS10xx/VS1053 Evaluation Kit because these already have RS232 interface.
